The Canary Islands

The greater islands are El Hierro, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, La Palma, Tenerife and La Gomera. The capital is divided between Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

Many classical authors were inspired by the magic and beauty of these islands and declared that the Canary Islands were home to the Garden of Eden, the legendary Atlantis, the Garden of the Hesperides, and the Champs Elysees.

The seven Canary Islands can satisfy even the most demanding visitors, as they do not attract the so-called mass tourism, because of the biodiversity that this region offers. The pristine natural parks which can be found on La Gomera, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote, as well as the abundance of breathtaking flora and fauna, combined with the sea, sandy beaches, green hills, forests and the volcanoes which offer the most amazing views and which attracts thousands of nature lovers each season.

The mild climate which is typical of this area is ideal for those who want to take a break from their stressful everyday lives.

These hospitable islands, rich in folklore and tradition, offer a wide range of artistic and cultural attractions such as the Museo Canario. There are also shows and music, many of them held in the modern Auditorium of Tenerife.

Noteworthy is the Music Festival of the Canary Islands, as well as the Symphony Orchestra of Tenerife.

For those who want to enjoy sparkling beaches and crystal clear water there is Fuerteventura, the island that hosts the most famous beaches.

It is an ideal meeting place for all sports fans and adventure seekers as these magnificent beaches have facilities for windsurfing, snorkeling, diving, and, of course, scuba diving, much loved by those who are interested in exploring the rich underwater life typical of this region.

During the day, the squares and streets are crowded and illuminated by the lights of the shops, markets, bars and restaurants, and, after sunset, outdoor discos and pubs, which are open to the public, offer non-stop entertainment.

The Canary Islands are the ideal destination for younger people, couples, families and singles who want to make new friends and have fun.
