Havaianas

Havaianas is sure to be one of the most known Brazilian brands of the world, considering that it started as a local flip-flop manufacturer and, today, men and women from more than 60 countries consider its products a real must have.
These colourful and playful flip flops have gained remarkable success, thanks to the Brazilian touch that sets every single element apart, the fantastic choice of prints and original designs.
Havaianas was established in 1962, when it created its first pair of flip flops, taking inspiration from the typical Japanese sandals, called “Zori”, renowned for their comfort and rice straw soles.
The brand’s creators decided to use the “rice pattern” as a distinctive feature of their collections, becoming, so doing, easily recognizable.

Starting from the 1970′s, several companies tried to copy the typical Havaianas’ style, but could not guarantee the same quality of the original ones which, as the slogan said, did not lose their shape and their straps didn’t get loose.
But the Brazilian flip-flop brand gained global recognition when, in the 1990′s, created a unique style of footwear, depicting the Brazilian flag for the football World Cup.
Ever since that time, American celebrities started to wear Havaianas flip flops and, so doing, automatically launched and promoted them, letting the brand enter the US market.
Havaianas has also been featured in several magazines, catalogues and newspapers and can be found in thousands of shops all over the world.
In spite of that, we all know that a brand does not get successful simply creating fantastic and high quality products, but it needs to be advertised: that’s why, in 2004, Havaianas has entered the world of luxury, by creating a pair of sandals enriched with an 18 karat gold finish encrusted with little diamonds: a real piece of jewellery!

Today, the Brazilian brand produces flip flops in all colours, patterns and motifs, providing a great variety of solutions that is sure to meet everybody’s taste: stripes, flowers, checkers, flowers, fruit, geometrical designs, mono colour, Brazilian flags in all shapes, natural landscapes and so on…Always featuring the typical rice pattern, that, over the years, has made these beautiful accessories and “pieces of art” unmistakable and unique.
