Australia is located in the Southern Hemisphere, bound on both sides by the Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean. It is the largest country in Oceania, and consists of the mainland, Tasmania and other islands called Smaller Islands, such as Norfolk Island, Christmas Island, Macquarie Island, Lord Howe Island and Heard Island.

The capital is Canberra and its most populous cities are Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.

When we think of Australia, koalas, kangaroos and crocodiles suddenly come to our minds. That is just natural as that is what most of us learned about Australia in school.

However, this wonderful country has much more to offer: breathtaking landscapes, sun, white beaches, desserts, mountains, unique species of animals and vegetation that cannot be found anywhere else in the world, lush parks and forests, and last but not least, a cosmopolitan metropolis. All this makes Australia a continent to be discovered.

Sydney, one of Australia’s largest cities, is known to be a dynamic and multicultural centre. It is home to the world renowned Sydney Opera House and is surrounded by beautiful parks where people regularly admire the sunset.

There are more than seventy beaches situated in pristine bays, such as on Kangari Island, known as the world’s most beautiful beach and Cable Beach, situated along the endless coastline of the Kimberley Mountains.

Another noteworthy place is Bondi Beach, which attracts lots of tourists, families, surfers and even hippies from all over the world. There you may hire a surf instructor and learn to ride the waves.
Whitsunday Islands National Park, in Queensland, is known for its rolling dunes of fine white sand and, those who love spending time outdoors should not miss Kalbarri, where they may practice countless activities such as bushwalking, horseback riding, fishing, surfing and canoeing on the Murchison.

In the modern capital of Canberra, you can visit art galleries, museums, national monuments, parks and lakes where you can walk, or ride a bike, enjoying the sounds of nature. Then after dinner, you may hit one of the many discos, clubs and pubs that are scattered across the city and experience its vibrant nightlife.

Do not miss Ayers Rock, the famous red coloured monolith that recalls the fascinating Aboriginal culture that has left a mark on this country.

Tropical forests, Snowy Mountains and endless beaches make this country morphologically variegated and the Great Barrier Reef combined with the magnificent landscapes of Tasmania, are what makes Australia an excellent holiday destination.
